Advantages

  • They also avoid producing as much noise pollution.

Disadvantages

Pros:

  • They are ideal to detect studs that are not so deep into the wall
  • They are used without batteries and so easy to use
  • The designs are mostly compact as they do not have mechanical assembling. And can easily fit into the pocket or pouch.
  • It comes in handy when there is the need to detect screws and nails in wooden studs

Cons

  • They may sometimes be cumbersome when used on the wall of modern buildings with standards.
  • They may not give precise location of the studs as they are designed to only detect metal objectsattached to the studs.

 

Electronic Stud Finder

Pros

  • The device uses sensor to detect the presence of studs within the wall
  • More accurate readings are taken when dialectic changes in the wall are detected with the device
  • They can scan as deep as 3’’ into the wall for a more precise probe.

Cons

  • They are quite expensive
  • For their dependence on batteries, the device can be prone to having downtime
  • They are quite sophisticated and may require that the handler understands and meets the guidelines to be able to use the device.
  • Quite bulky and may not fit in to a small space

The preference attached to both the electronic and magnetic stud finder will depend on the nature of work to be carried out within the space. Electronic devices are more precise in their probing and are therefore preferred by most technicians.
