“Time you enjoyed wasting was not wasted.” [John Lennon]
(Photo taken in English Bay, Vancouver, aboard Chi-Ling)
“Honor yourself in deciding how to spend your time, and then let yourself be and enjoy it. Moments come and go too quickly to waste one worrying about another that’s past. So enjoy your moments today, whatever [...]

slurls
June 8th, 2010 · No Comments · for fun, whatever
A new term for me today, “slurls” — slurred URLs. The sometimes unfortunate results of putting company names into URLs without spaces. Read the following URLs. I mean read them.
www.whorepresents.com – Who Represents, celebrity agent database
www.lesbocages.com – Les Bocages, tree nursery
www.expertsexchange.com - Experts Exchange, where programmers can trade advice
www.ladrape.co.uk – La Drape sells high-end quilted [...]
see your website in 1996 design style
May 4th, 2010 · No Comments · for fun
This is absolutely hilarious — the Geocities-izer. Hilarious because I was there designing pages like this back then. Go to this website and enter the URL for your own website (or any). When you click submit, you’ll see (and hear!) your site “like something created by a 13 year old in 1996” (as the WinXP [...]
retirement goal: become a Child Who Knows
April 20th, 2010 · No Comments · for fun, my world, remembery
“But the adult is not the highest stage of development. The end of the cycle is that of the independent, clear-minded, all-seeing Child. That is the level known as wisdom. When the Tao te Ching and other wise books say things like, ‘Return to the beginning; become a child again’ that’s [...]

“You can’t help respecting anybody who can spell TUESDAY, even if he doesn’t spell it right; but spelling isn’t everything. There are days when spelling Tuesday simply doesn’t count.”
~Winnie The Pooh~
I’ve been reading The Positivity Blog in my feed-reader lately. (Excellent; I recommend it!) Today’s post (Winnie the Pooh’s Guide to a [...]

I’m retiring!
Again, that is. I’ve had 8 careers and loved every one of them. I’m retiring from my freelance copy editing business, which I’ve had on the go since 1987.
You know you should retire when you’re driving along in your convertible, sunny day, top down, and find yourself hoping there’s no new work waiting [...]

eagle’s nest cam 2010
April 5th, 2010 · No Comments · for fun, videos
Last year I linked you to an eagle cam — a camera showing an eagle’s nest with new babies, located near Sidney on Vancouver Island, BC, Canada. I see that this year they have a brand new camera in a brand new nest, and the eagles are there with their babies again!

The book:
Writing Maniac: How I Grew Up to be a Writer (and You Can, Too!)
After reading Kiss the Joy as it Flies (Ms. Fitch’s first book for adults), I had to read more of her stories. She mostly writes for children and young adults. This one stood out because I’ve been looking for somebody [...]

I’m FOFL at this. A guy going around town voicing what would be his twitter commentary. Wish I could include the actual video here for my archives, but it doesn’t have an embed link so you’ll have to click to see it.
