Building Your First 20,000 Followers Part 1

Do you wish to build a brand that represents, you? You need to have the backup of loyal followers that take your engagement to another level at all times.

Before this you must have an account, you probably have tried posting a few images on the platform with the aim of getting followers and boosting your engagement levels, but it isn’t as easy as it sounds. You might have to hustle day and night to reach just the 1000 follower mark, and you might also have to burn the midnight oil to make your brand stand out. Well, that is if you decide to do it manually.

The good thing is that all your efforts are always worth the risk. Instagram presents you with the opportunity to extend your reach and find new markets

Like all the other social networks, Instagram is always changing and becoming better. Some of the strategies that you used a year ago might not be so appealing and fruitful this year.

Have you ever wondered why some accounts on Instagram attract hundreds of thousands of followers, while most of the other account struggle to break into the first 1000?

We wondered too, and we took the liberty of talking to people who are behind the accounts with hundreds of thousands of followers and noted down their recommendations.

In this first series, we look at how these top brands attract the attention of followers quickly, and to retain them for the growth of your brand.

    1. Use Call to Actions

When you open your account on Instagram you do so with a few goals in mind – either you wish to get more followers, or you wish to sell more or any other goal that comes to mind. Either way, you need to incorporate your goals into your Instagram marketing account.

Include the call to actions into your visuals and also in the captions that you use. You can come up with a great way to add the CTA to your engagement. For instance, you can ask the users to double-click on your images to deliver a like to your post. This ultimately drives engagement.

One of the ways to make sure you get more followers on your page is by asking users to tag their friends or loved ones. This can result in more exposure on your page and the people that are tagged usually become your followers.

    1. Research Instagram Hashtags

Many marketers use only the most popular hashtags, but this won’t earn you the following you desire. The whole point is to make sure you build a following that you can engage with on a personal level.

The best way to do this is to look for hashtags that are relevant to your niche. Make sure you go for hashtags that provide a steady growth rate. You can use tools to search for the right hashtags that allow you this luxury.

Before you go ahead and put time into looking for the right hashtags, you need to keep in mind that you are looking for two different hashtag categories to work with:

    1. Hashtags to include in the posts.
    1. Hashtags for you to like.

Look at the types of content that you are putting out on the platform and split them into various categories. Build these lists for each category you come up with.

Popular hashtags aren’t always obvious, but you can use automated tools to find what you need. Check out Managed.social to find out what these tools can do for you.
