Tips For Making Your Bedroom The Ideal Sleep Sanctuary

Tips For Making Your Bedroom The Ideal Sleep Sanctuary

It is human nature to head home after a busy day at work and get six to eight hours of sleep as experts in this field recommend. No one can dispute the health benefits of a good night sleep such as alertness, increased productivity at work and also an improved immune system. It will also be unfair if we do not evaluate the downsides if you do not get enough sleep. Some of the most common results include restlessness, gaining weight and poor productivity. The sleeping environment has a direct impact on the quality of sleep that you get. The following are practical tips to make your bedroom a small paradise

Condition it according to the season

Weather variations are beyond your control, but you can make your bedroom fit for survival through several approaches. For instance, having a heating system during winter is desirable as it makes it easy for you to fall asleep. It will also make sense when you have a cooling system during the hot months of the year. You may find yourself drowning in sweat during your sleeping hours during the warm season. There may also be some structural changes that you make to your bedroom such as sealing your windows and other openings depending on the season of the year.

Invest in the right beddings

You may have your home in one of the coolest neighborhoods in your region, build a modern house that is the envy of all people but still do not get quality sleep. The choice of the beddings that you choose will determine the quality of sleep you get. Season changes demand different types of beddings as well. For instance, there may be different comforters for the warm and cold seasons. It thus means that you will store some of your beddings whenever they are not in use. A good storage bag makes it easy to store your comforter and increases its lifespan.

Work on the lighting

Some people can fall asleep while the lights are on while another group finds it hard to sleep unless there is complete darkness in the room. You have to identify the category that you fall under and know what works for you. Not everyone sleeps during the night because work schedules differ. You can also use curtains to block excess light that distracts you from your sleep. It is also advisable to invest in a sleeping mask if the lights are too much for you to bear.

Personalize your bedroom

A painting of your family and close friends on your bedroom wall can give a welcoming feeling that you have been looking for. You can accessorize your home depending on your taste and preferences. You can also paint your bedroom with colors that show calmness and peace of mind. Some of the best color picks include blue, green and yellow. Avoid harsh and loud colors as they can irritate your eyes and consequently affect the quality of your sleep. However, you should avoid overdoing the personalization of your bedroom if you intend to sell the home.

Get rid of the junk

You may think that you need to have a spacious bedroom to enjoy your sleep which is not always true. It all depends on how you utilize the space you have and make the best use of it. Evaluate what you do not need in your bedroom and get rid of it and create space. Do you like watching a movie from your bed, read a book or sleep the moment you land on your bed? Analyze what works for you and keep it and get rid of the rest. You can also create some drawers and cabinets to store the extra stuff in your bedroom. The arrangement of the furniture in this room also matters as well. You can even consult an interior designer to ensure that you get the best out of your space.

Keep the room clean

Investing in the best beddings, creating space and personalizing your bedroom will not be enough to give you quality sleep if the room is untidy. You are at risk of contracting various diseases and allergies if you live in a dirty area. It is very unhealthy to sleep in a dusty room especially when you are allergic to dust. Create a cleaning calendar that indicates when you work on the floors, walls and the beddings. The frequency with which you clean your beddings will depend on the fabric. You can also have a professional give your room a thorough cleaning often.

Keeping your bedroom in good shape does not have to be expensive if you follow the above tips. You also need to have a cool and relaxed mind if you want your quality of sleep to improve. Develop a bedtime routine which will condition your mind and make it easy for you to fall asleep.

How to Maintain a Healthy Lifestyle While Working Online

How to Stay Focused While Working Online

Working online and staying focused and healthy is not always as easy as it looks so we thought it’s time for a guide to address this problem for everyone around the world that spend most of their time sitting on a chair while staring at a screen. For that reason, we made a quick checklist for you to follow.

Give your eyes a break

It’s not healthy to stare for hours at a screen, especially if there’s not enough light on the screen it will start to hurt you in the long-term, you can notice this right away when you go outside and there’s a little bit of sunshine, you immediately squeeze your eyes together as it’s simply to much light while others have no problem with it at all. Once that happens you know it’s time to insert more regular breaks. One hour followed by a five-minute break would be perfect to keep your eyes sharp.

Eat more of the green stuff

Fruits and vegetables are full of vitamins that will do you good, and especially for your eyes, you want to take plenty of Vitamin A, E, C, B6, B9,  B12, and D, I didn’t make that up myself I just sneak peaked it at Omega-3 fats will also do you good so salty fish is what you need for that. The most important one for eye health is Vitamin A, which you will find in beef and lamb liver, or if you’re more of a fan of fish than Mackerel and Salmon will do the job as well. It’s just that fish contains an awful lot less vitamins so if you’re not a fan of liver you got to eat more fish or add up on supplements.

How about a schedule

Most people just start working without any schedule at all, and more often than not that turns out to be pretty darn ineffective as you will easily get distracted, thinking what to do next, and before you know it you spend half an hour on Facebook or Twitter or doing other things then you’re supposed to do. A schedule will save you so much time at the end of the day that you can spend with your family and friends.

Remove all distractions

If you’re living on your own, without a family, there’s not that much that can distract you, besides perhaps some notifications from your phone from friends on social media but you can easily turn that off, if you don’t, start doing that right now as it’s the main distractor.

For people with families, especially when there are kids involved I suggest you get a room for yourself, perhaps renovate your garage, the attic, or your basement if it’s deep enough. Also, make sure to hang a sign on the door that you don’t want to be disturbed and talk about this with your family on a regular base as people do need to be reminded.

Simply tell them it’s in their benefit as well as when you’re undistracted you can do more work, make more money, and have more time to take your wife out for dinner, your kids to theme parks, and more frequent weekend trips and holidays. Once they hear that they’ll understand and leave you alone.
